Sitting at my grandmother’s cloth-covered table, I sensed how much she relished the joy I found in her food. I remember my grandmother preparing Italian meals while, upstairs, my mom might be preparing a 60s space age style meal out of a box. Most immigrant traditions will yield to the American way of life. Through recipes handed down in my family, self-made photographs, and three-generations of memories, I reveal the soulful, humorous, and always delicious history of Italian-Americans in Brooklyn. I’ve tried to portray the simple meals my family shared in an elevated light. It’s a magical journey into a hidden world of my family’s cooking traditions and of my connections to my Italian American heritage Its an exploration of the cultural DNA that links together events, times and traditions. This is not a cookbook in the classic sense. A little bit about Feast of the Seven Fishes

One of the book’s early and interesting points is that the names we find in the Gospels are representative of what historians can now document - that is, that the names that are common in the Gospels were historically common at that time, and the names that are less commonly found in the Gospels were less common then. I believe it could not have been written without the prayers of many who supported me during that period - to use Paul’s phrase (2 Cor 12:9) - God’s grace working as power in weakness.” I also like this, from the preface to the first edition: “Much of this book was written during a gradual recuperation from prolonged illness. At the beginning of the second edition, I rather like the fact that the author says (xviii) that he’s made no changes, just additions, since he hasn’t changed his mind about anything (see also 542-47). When you read this book, it’s worthwhile to get the second edition, since it includes three additional chapters at the end: “Eyewitnesses in Mark (Revisited),” “Who Was the Beloved Disciple? (Continued),” and “The End of Form Criticism (Confirmed).” But note that apparently the entire first edition is available online here. And I heartily recommend it, though it’s very long and has its dense spots. The key theme - as the title suggests - is that the Gospels are based on eyewitness testimony. Wright (“a remarkable piece of detective work”). This is a prize-winning book, including an award from Christianity Today, and I read it because of endorsements by Lee Strobel (in The Case for the Real Jesus) and N.T. Before you watch the show, get to know the real-life Mind Hunter himself. While Netflix's Mindhunter is still a fictional drama, it does use some "verbatim" serial killer interview material for its script, according to producer and director David Fincher. Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI's Serial Crime Unit is John Douglas' true accounts of his on-the-job experience, co-written with author and filmmaker Mark Olshanker. Douglas literally wrote the book on criminal psychology and his findings and contributions are legendary within the field. Douglas now? Jonathan Groff plays a fictionalized version of him in the form of a character named Holden Ford. Douglas was an initial developer of the criminal profiling practice and the series centers on the approach he helped innovate. The second season of Mindhunter was green-lighted in April 2017. Mindhunter is produced by acclaimed director David Fincher and Hollywood actress Charlize Theron, among others. The members of the bureau's technical approach to interviewing and analyzing serial killers and repeat offenders was a new way of doing things at the time and while the show isn't a documentary, it does have a real-life basis. It is based on the true crime book, Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit written by John E. The 1970s-set series focuses on FBI agents inside the Behavioral Science Unit, the first to use criminal psychological profiling to aid investigations. Mindhunter is sure to be Netflix's next big binge-able crime show. Blessed with ferocious courage, it was the young warrior's ability to learn, to imagine, and to judge the hearts of others that propelled him to greater and greater power. And so did the challenges he faced-from the machinations of a Chinese ambassador to the brutal abduction of his young wife, Borte. Through a series of courageous raids against the Tartars, Temujin's legend grew. But Temujin endured-and from that moment on, he was driven by a singular fury: to survive in the face of death, to kill before being killed, and to conquer enemies who could come without warning from beyond the horizon. Temujin's young life was shaped by a series of brutal acts: the betrayal of his father by a neighboring tribe and the abandonment of his entire family, cruelly left to die on the harsh plain. He was born Temujin, the son of a khan, raised in a clan of hunters migrating across the rugged steppe.
